Sheetal Thakur – unsere Indien-Spezialistin neulich in Berlin …

Sheetal beim Shopping in Berlin

Hi,
I am Sheetal and the founder of Offbeat trips – India’s first DMC (destination management company) catering to all women lesbian trips in India. As lot of women aspire to travel to India, I realized there was a need for a company that could cater to Exclusive Women trips in India, including LGBT groups, enabling them to travel in comfortable environment, with special attention to their safety.

I recently changed my company name to “Offbeat Trips”, as I wanted to come- out in the Indian Travel industry as someone who is a lesbian and promoting lesbian trips within India. It’s a bold step in a country like India where many LGBT people are still in closet.

I have been organizing trips for WomenFairTravel for past 3 years. These are interesting journeys that gives you an insight into India’s rich culture and heritage and also focuses on Indian women, their lifestyle, aspirations and difficulties they face. In short – the guests experience the real India and Indian women from different walks of life.

I myself have got varied experience of 16 years in the travel Industry, right from mountaineering in the Himalayas, to working in inbound travel companies, to leading inbound groups all over India. I am a born adventurer endowed with love for nature and the animal world.

A lot has been said and written about the safety of women in India and media has been playing a big role in bringing out instances, big and small that has happened in the county. I realize the importance of safety of women while they are travelling with me. I have been travelling alone in India for past 20 years and I am quite accustomed to mindsets and safety precautions while travelling. Group travels are considered very safe in India, since everyone travels together, stays together and party’s together 😊. There is always a women tour leader with the group and she helps the guests to enjoy India freely and to the most. Safety is the utmost priority for me.
